Yeah, idk where this works, but definitely not where I'm working. We have a clear 48-hour cancellation policy. If you cancel with less time than that, we charge in full, as is stated on every confirmation you are sent and in phone conversation, we are always reinforcing this. If you change dates in that window (which, btw we don't have to do, but will humor guests who might have a real emergency), a note is put on to say if you try to cancel or no-show, we charge. There is a level of discretion we have when doing this, and I've personally been burned by guests lying about a death or serious illness, only to rebook the same day for a cheaper rate or a different promotion. Just this last week, a guest called less than 24 hours before arrival and said his dad had died and he was crying and i felt so horrible, not even just to cancel but to give him sincere condolences. Then this jerk rebooked for the same date but a different room category. What kind of psychopath does this? I wanted to go up to reception for when he arrived just to give him my "condolences" in person. 🤬 It can really make you distrust people.
Not casper

This doesn’t work at most hotels, once you change the arrival date you can no longer cancel
