Im teaching my daughter. Aaliyah she turned 15 in April. She also frugal. She started her hustle. She done few make up courses, how to style hijaab for events brides. She also apply Henna. Last year she made good income. This year in Jan I discuss with her rather take that money invest so she started investment for 5 years we went to meet personal financial lady. Explained all to her. Now she even ask me mummy please get me some clients i need to earn money.

These are all such good tips! Looking back, I only wish that someone would have told me these things when I was younger! When you're young, you typically don't realize the importance of money.

I am 54 years old and I am still learning about managing money.But I do have a lot of savings in form of investments.I have two 403b plans on my job plus I have 401a plan attached to my pension.I also have investments in acorn and stash.I have little over 3, 900 in stash and little over 2, 400 in acorn far as personal investments.I also gave two roth IRAs in both acorn and stash.I have little over 800 dollars in acorn retirement account and little over 300 dollars in stash retirement account.

My budget is simple…Make more spend less. That same budget has put me through college debt free and bought my house while raising a family.

I so wish I would've understood all of this when I was young! I also lived with my parents so I never had a budget because my parents took care of everything. I really appreciate my parents for this, but I wish someone would've told me what to do about that. And its so true about the habits. My husband and I have been trying to lower our spending, but we definitely had habits. So now we're just starting to actually save and live below our means. I am going to be teaching all of this to my daughter.

Uggg where was this when I was younger….I was given the worst financial advice as a 20 year old and it is now impacting my life in a such a negative way. I was told to borrow as much $ as possible to educate myself and when I graduate 👩‍🎓 then all I have to do it pay it back. I’ve been out of school now for 8 years and still Owe hundreds of thousands on student loans ☹️🥺….I will share this with every young adult I know.

I regret no starting at 21 when I graduated from college and started working, but at least glad I had my wake up call in April when I turned 30. "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is now".

What I would do to be have heard this when I got my first part time job …….. never even thought about budgeting at that age. I thankfully started doing it when I got my first full time job. It really helps so much.

Tip # 4 for saving your money, don't be afraid to ask for a discount on anything you buy or any service you get. You can ask for a cash discount and they pay the tax, or just ask the store employee for a discount and usually they say that they are not authorized, fine get the supervisor or manager especially if its a big ticket item. Your not always going to get the discount but if you don't ask you don't get, follow.

Yes, definitely live with parents. I honestly think the mentality of moving out as soon as possible is what is crippling many young adults. I graduated in 2019 and I am on track to paying off all of my student loans in early 2021. Then, I will ramp up my Roth IRA and 401k investing, save a 6-month e fund and then get into aggressively saving, real estate, and investing. I think if you even take 2 years after college to live with your parents, you can really shape your financial future and thank yourself later in life.

I gave up on credit cards in 2012. I use to use an AMEX as a credit/debit card. Now I have 2 debit cards.
