This is good advise for anyone having a hard time saving. There are so many around each of us that make us feel insecure for what we don't have. Its can be a bit embarrassing and overwhelming to not have any savings and just not even know how and where to start. 👍🏾
I’m paid hourly, so I save 1 hour of pay per day worked. I now have a few months emergency fund just from that simple savings and it happened faster than I thought.
With $1M saved at 50, I'm realizing that managing wealth wisely is more important than ever. Inflation and rising costs make it clear it's not just about how much you have, but how smartly you manage it. Learning how the 1% think about money could be the key to retiring comfortably without sacrificing my lifestyle.
After putting money in the company stock market ( they add 15% up front to it) and putting the max amount I can in 401k that the company matches dollar for dollar…then, partially retiring , that means working part time ( paychecks are 25% of what used to be)…there’s nothing else to spare! Actually, any extras…like a bonus, goes towards the car payment . So that when I’m 100% retired, I won’t have that payment hanging over me!
Set up an Acorns account!!! Its so great! Its takes each purchase you make on your card of choice, rounds it up to the next dollar amount, then deposits the difference into said account. You can even set it up however you want to add more per purchase! Or even setup a certain dollar amount per week on top of that! It builds up faster than youd think.

Every time my granny received a $5 bill, she put it in an envelope she kept in a dresser drawer. She used it for Christmas.
How to not be broke

Automating was a game changer for me and putting it in a separate account that was harder to access.
Thanks for sharing this.
So much effort went into this.
Emergency fund needs to be at least 12 months.
People, try any formula you wish. You won't have to beg or borrow from anyone. Feeling so great. Trust me.

Y'know if I'm here for saving tips, saying that saving $100 is 'a lot of money for a 5yo' may have been inadvertently very condescending
i like this guy. i found all the references and the past him very interesting. definitely getting a sub.
Since 2024, I've started putting away £100 GBP a month on the first day of each month.
Then in April 2025, my salary went up by 5%, so I increased it to £105.
Now I've started working at home, transport and food costs have went down, so I'm just gonna dump 10% of my monthly salary into that account.
